There is no need of extra settings and extra applications. All thing done by following some simple steps.
Steps and Screenshots
Screenshot captured from my Samsung galaxy J7. If you have other brand these settings may be on different location.
1. Make sure your Android version above Android 4.0
2. Go to file manager of your Android phone.
3. Select file that you want to hide.
4. Rename selected file.
5. Keep name of your file same as existing file name before your file name add "." . For example suppose data file name is xyz then you just rename as .xyz
6. Save your file as new name.
7. Make sure "Show hidden files" in your file manager setting is desable.
If all thing is going ok then your file has been hidden.

Follow these simple Steps to unhide hidden data.
1. Go to your file manager settings.
2. Enable "show hidden files".
3. Go back to same location where your data stored.
4. On top of your files your file name .xyz will be shown.
5. If you want unhide to all, rename it again.
These all are the simple steps.

What happens when we place dot (.) before file name (such as Image, video, and PDF)?
In case of Images - The images will not be shown on any application. But unfortunately, the Gallery is not giving constant results. When I test in gallery , It is showing the hidden images when show hidden files in gallery is enable in most of the times and sometimes not.
In case of Videos - The case of the video is same as the image.
In case of PDF files - The PDF are not shown anywhere.
And one more thing to keep in mind that make sure in your file manager "Show Hidden Files" option is desable.
